Care Advice
A piece of jewellery in a noble metal or a pearl is a lifelong companion if you care for it in the best way. Here are some advice to make them last forever:
Store your jewellery in a jewellerybox or a jewellerybag at room temperature. Keep your pearls separate from your other jewellery, since they easily scratch.
When it comes to pearls you should wear them often. Since they were originally born in water they benefit immensely from absorbing the oils that your skin naturally secretes.
Try to keep your jewellery away from chlorine bleach, vinegar, ammonia, hairspray, perfume and cosmetics since these substances may damage them.
Take your jewellery off when sleeping (they look beautiful on your bedside table).
Take your jewellery off when you shower or take a bath.
Take your jewellery off when doing sports.
Try to keep them out of water.
Clean your silver regularly with baking soda, boiling water and aluminum foil.
Please note that 925 silver sometimes acquire a dull surface, i.e. become oxidized. A 14 karat gold plated surface will fade over time because of contact with clothes, hard surfaces, sweat, perfume, hairspray, air pollution and others.
It is natural for the layers of gold plating to gradually wear off, but by following these care advices you can slow the process.
